The brain child of a good friend in the wheel chair industry, this event provides the opportunity for people with disabilities to safely enjoy time on the water which most of us take for granted. This includes skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, fishing or just a boat ride. (Click here if you would like to learn more or donate)
As one of the original members I am part of the team who defines the activities and assigns and defines roles for the 50+ volunteers and 8 boats. I work with local businesses who are willing to donate equipment to be used for the day. During the event I facilitate the timing of our 200+ participants to ensure they get to their activity and have fun doing so.
The most satisfying role was also the easiest however, which is to be one of the lucky people who skis next to one of our athletes. Helping a young blind friend or a severe quadriplegic adventurer achieve something they never thought possible is one of the most fulfilling activities of my entire life.
